Flasher Unit
Right, here is where Relfy looks like a total numbskull yet again...
You know on ESM on the page about flasher units....
http://shop.morrisminorspares.co.uk/adv ... f093e466c8
I'm guessing the one for Wilberforce (1969) is no. SWT106 (Push-On Connector Type), but what's that thing above?... SWT106A "Flasher Unit-Hazard Warning".
Its £1 more - is that a flasher unit which you can make do hazard lights? If so I'd like mine to be able to do that, but am not sure what to do with it.....
(My problem at the moment is outside indicators that flash too fast most of the time but not all (they always flash, but sometimes they start slow and build up to being fast!!), and a stalk light that sometimes works but mostly doesn't)

You dont mean under the glove-box - as in 'behind-under' i hope? I dont want to have to take that off again. i did look at the connections on the switch though (took the steering wheel off, then the housing etc) and it looks ok to me. Bit mucky but not bad.bigginger wrote:I'll leave the units to someone else, but I'd be having a look at the connectors under the glovebox to try and sort out the stalk. They can corrode or pull loose.
Had to turn it round a bit because the people who did my tracking only adjusted one side so the steering wheel was then wonky and the indicators weren't self-cancelling - so now my indicator stalk is pointing towards my rear-view mirror! (Stalk has always been on the left). I would've taken it back and been obstreperous (my dyslexic sister told me to stop being that once - much to my amazement! (mostly as I didn't know what it meant)), but that was in North Wales and somehow I never found a moment to do it.
... i can't get the green doobry-wotsit off the end of the stalk to look in there.

Mine have a bunch of bullet connectors under the glove box liner, resting on the metal shelf, and it's those I've had trouble with before now. Taking the greeen hoodad off is the main reason for them breaking - they seem to weld themselves to the black bit so that the threaded bit breaks when you try to undo them, but checking the little bulb would be the best place to start. Bet you'll need a new green bit though

i know the bulb is ok cos it does flash once or twice every now and then...but you're right it might be a connection somewhere. When the weekend comes I'll actually have some daylight to have a look.but checking the little bulb would be the best place to start. Bet you'll need a new green bit though
Roll on summer! Everything is so grey at the moment and I'm getting so low! - apart from not being able to do anything to the car cos its black by the time i get home.
Thanks Cam! I can always count on you to know what the answer is I'm looking for! I'll put me order in pronto!Relfy, see my PM.

Oddly enough Wilbereforce's indicators work better now the flasher unit has been replaced however the green light (on the stick) only works when the wheel is just off centrebut checking the little bulb would be the best place to start. Bet you'll need a new green bit though
