toyota gearbox

My Son is in the process of fitting a 1275 marina engine with a toyota box already mated to the engine. He has the clutch slave cylinder but no master cylinder to work from the clutch pedal. Could you please advise as to what master cylinder is required and how it is fitted. He dosent want to buy the complete fitting kit if poss. I am sure there is an article on it some were but cant find it (I am not very good with computors) Thanks John

What kind of Toyo box? If you know what type, maybe there is something usable on such a toyota. But I doubt it, my celica had hanging pedals, unlike the minor ones.
The aussies do more Toyota conversions, it's mostly Ford Sierra Type 9 boxes overhere

Lots of the specialists do a hydraulic cluthch conversion kit, as I'm sure you know. Why not ring one of them and ask if they'll do you just a master cylinder? Looks like a pretty standard Girling part to me.

Birmingham Minor centre sold me just the master cylinder part when mine failed.

They sold me the whole kit - I didn't give the name 'cos I've no idea if they're anywhere close to you or not

I am in the process of installing a mazda 5 speed 9behind a rotary engine) in my traveller. And I reckon that the pedal box from a fiat uno, (i am in the uk) will fit therefor giving me a hydraulic clutch and also a brake booster.(the latter is always good for later brake upgrades.)

I've mounted a Toyota Hiace clutch master cylinder under the floor.
It mounts on the chassis rail in line with the brake master cylinder & operates off the MM clutch pedal with a pushrod the same as the brake. Get a remote reservoir that can feed both clutch & brake master cylinders.

I'm sure I'm just being too cautious, but I'd sooner stick with one reserve for each - It just feels like a good idea to still have engine braking (more easily
) if you lose the brakes

My reservoir has a divider so that if one cylinder leaks it can't drain the complete reservoir.

John,
There are 2 choices of clutch with the Toyota box - assuming you have the Celica T50?
Retain the existing mechanical setup (I have this, and it have been fine for 8 years!), or using a Midget release arm, go to a hydraulic conversion using a 'standard' Minor kit.
To use the mechanical clutch release, you need the casting that comes with the kit, or is already fitted to the box?
I have the installation instructions and can email them to you. The kits come from MinorMania in N. London.
