hi

cheers for that info, i have three batteries already, id like to ask a battery question though so i thought id stick it here in the hope someone sees it - if a battery is tipped up (woops) and the distilled water comes out and you dont notice for a few weeks, will it be no good or can you just top them up again and charge them up ?

cheers

I think you would be lucky to get a useful life out of it because
once the internal plates are exposed to the air when the electrolyte
level has dropped, a chemical action takes place which lowers the
efficiency. If in doubt with any battery, all you have to do is fully
charge it and then take it to a battery depot where they will apply
a 'discharge meter' to it. This will tell them within seconds if the
battery is 'good' or bad. AND the batteries contain a mixture of
acid and distilled water, not just the water.

How much of the water/acid was left inside? If it was still half full you stand a chance, but it's life will be shorter as the acid is weaker.
As for the exposed plates, what I've found is that a very flat battery will not always take much charge overnight - but if you leave them on trickle charge for 3 or 4 days they can still recover.
