Hello,
I have an Elva Courier and it has a 1960 Morris Minor steering rack in it that is severly damaged. Does anyone know how many splines and what size it is? I'm guessing 9/16 x 36, Does that sound right ? And where would I find a universal for this rack? all of the ones I can find have a set screw (grub nut?) rather than a pinch bolt. Not very many on this side of the pond! Please Advise,

I found a UJ that fitted the Minor steering rack (I positioned the wheel further back and more upright on my Minor), but unfortunately I do not know what it was from (I supplied a pinion to a UJ supplier and they returned it with one that fitted).

The UJ I used had a cast shaft on one side of the UJ which bolted to whatever column it came from. I then turned this so it was round so it would fit into my column.

I seem to think the uj came from Hillman but am not positive.
