Hi

My morris 72 traveler wings are down to bare metal. It is in daily use. I would like to protect them with something like finigins or wax oil. I can pressure hose them but I am not sure that they will dry out. Can I apply the products when the car is damp?

thanks

Bob

Bob, do you mean bare metal or paint. If bare metal then keep well away from Finnigans or waxoyle until the wings have been preped and painted inside and out. When painted I would use an underbody Shultz, which is an excellent protection against both stone chips ans the elements. For extra protection you can stone chip onto the primer, re primer then top coat then shultz. The front wings in particular will benefit from having all of the underside joints seam sealed after priming.
Do not spray or apply any paint or surface treatment when the wings are damp, this will trap in the moisture and slowly rot the steel.
