Lockheed or pattern that is the question

Hi there, with all my braking problems it looks like im going to have to buy a new master cylinder. I have two options either the cheaper pattern type or the more expensive genuine lockheed m/c. Is there a difference in reliability and quality between the two. I dont want to get the lockheed one and just pay for the name when the pattern type is exactly of the same casting and build quality.

I've not compared a genuine with a pattern master cylinder, but if you ever put a pattern rear wheel cylinder beside a lockheed (delphi / AP) then the difference is obvious; and even at the current price of £25, the "genuine" is worth it. There's been a lot of buying and selling of companies and "names" recently, so it's worth checking that the new cylinder is "genuine", but if so, then go for it.

The Lockheed one is by no means genuine, but the internals are (in theory) made to the correct sizes, therefore in 15 years you will be able to get a replacement seal kit, however the same option is very unlikely for the pattern one.
Same goes with brake cylinders - I needed a new seal for a (brand new) pattern cylinder, however the only option was to chuck the whole thing away.
