Oil pressure gauge

I have an early series II, with the dash in front of the driver not in the middle. The engine has been updated to an A series. Can anyone tell me how I can connect the early capillary type oil pressure gauge to the A series which has an electrical type sensor? I would like to keep the original gauge.

All series II models had the A series engine from the beginning. It was 803cc and was fitted from 1952 to 1956.
The oil pressure sender will unscrew and an adapter can screw in it's place which you can attach a capillary pipe to fit the original gauge. Lots of Mini places do these pipes and adapters, but so do the Minor places now. Best bet is to ring up some of the suppliers and ask the question! If you want to, you can also get a T-piece so that you can have a gauge AND a warning lamp, but there's no provision for the lamp on the early dash unless you made something up.

Oil pressure electrical type sensor ? Are you sure ? Are you just looking at the pressure switch ? Hardly a 'sender'. If so - T junction and run the capillary into the car.

I would imagine that the phrase: "electrical type sensor" would refer to the oil pressure switch.

Doh! You're quite right of course, its a switch for an oil pressure lamp. I suppose I'll have to get one of these adaptor things.

Hi,
I've just put a gauge in mine, you'll need the T-piece to fit both the switch and the gauge, an adaptor to fit the gauge to the capillary, the capillary tube and the gauge! I got all mine through Minispares.com which was quick and less expensive than quite a few other places.
