How does one remove one's gearlever?
I have removed teh motal cap with the screw, but it doesn't seem to want to let go of the gearlever.

I am talking about my series MM box, so with the long gearlever

Sorry - never messed with an MM - went straight from Series 8E to Minor 948.

I've done the same with mine and it does not want to come out does it?? I must admit I just left mine where it was as I suspect you've got to take the top cover off the gearbox, but perhaps there is an easier way? Not done mine yet, so I'm looking forward to the answer! :D

will let you know if I ever succeed in doing it up
Maybe I'll just bolt the top back on when it is in the car.

The Morris 8 Series E gearbox is essentially the same, so if you took the gearlever out of that, it should be the same as the MM.

It's all in very good nick Cam, but I want to line up engine and box before putting them back in the car, and I can do that with this huge gearlever sticking out

Hi Onne, When we tried, we found that the gear lever is part of the top of the gearbox, so you do have to take the whole top off. beware of rogue springs that will take the slightest opportunity to leap to the bottom of the box :o :o :o :o :o taking the ball bearings with it. But if you are careful, shouldn't be too many problems

One of the reasons we ended up replacing the side-valve with a 950 :)

I did notice the three springs, two long ones and one shorter.
Do they still sell gasket sets for these boxes?
