Door seal

Hi everyone,

The rubber round my doors has perished and I wanted to replace it - anyone have any tips on this? Do I have to get the proper stuff (if so where can anyone recommend)? Or can I use any door seal material for any car?

I can't imagine door seal is that different from car to car but if anyone knows different please let me know :)

Assuminkg you mean the stuff on the body work rather than the doors themselves, this is a simplt pull off push on item available ne win a variety of colours from all the traders. The standard trip requires that you first fit loads of sharp metal clips to the frame and then hammer on the seal. Modern "soft bubble" versions are available that don't need the clips, but only in black. They're all so easy to get hold of, I wouldn't even think about finding anything elkse from another car.

When fitting, the edge of the material covering the flitch panel should be teapped under the draught excluder. Also, the metal centre of the excluder/seal should stop at the top of the kick plate, but be trimmed so that the rubber continues down to where the kick plate starts to angle outwards - this stops water running into the car and soaking the carpets - but of course it can still get into the sill section and rust that if your drain holes aren't clear!

No, you certainly cannot use the door seal from any car! The
proper type is readily available from the Minor dealers in about
five colours to match the trim ( not the rubber, just the cloth
covering). The correct seal is a bit stiff compared to modern
types so you could try different sorts in a breakers yard but I
suspect that most of them would prevent the Minor doors from
closing properly.
