Van rear lock

My van has a different handle on the back door, its just some basic lever thing with no lock.

When (if) I get around to replacing it I plan to get a proper handle and fit it. Then is it true that there is a code on the lock which I can take to get a key cut for it?

What I'm asking is, how do I go about getting the lock working if the new one doesn't have a key? (I know of a good handle on a wreck and I doubt the key exists).

And originally, is the lock the same for the back door as the drivers door?

Hi

The Key No. (Normally 3 Figures) is stamped on the square shank, and most locksmiths can cut keys from this code).

I worked for a Co, which had a Van as the workshop hack, and the same key fitted the Frt Door lock, ignition and the Rear door.

Cheers

Thanks sidevalve - that confirms what I had heard.

Now how about the fuel filler cap? Mine is on and locked and no key!

I know you are gonna say "How on earth are you getting fuel in this thing and why are you driving it round with no lock on the back door."

Answer is simple - It has no motor or gbox either.
