gauges

At the moment I have two gauges (oil pressure and Amps, and I want to add a third for water temp) situated on the steering column. A ex Minor owner has given me a type of glovebox door which he used to have on his old car, it will hold three gauges. He said it would fit in the drivers glovebox. However, it won't fit in mine. I think he must have had an older Minor.
Anyway, the actual gauge holder can be removed from the glovebox door. is there a way I can make this fit mine without any serious surgery?

If/when I get the hang of using photobucket I'll probably be able to use one link for all the photo's

The glovebox lid with 3 holes isn't a series 2 dashboard (all the dash instruments were there but they are completely different.

From the shape it looks like it may have been an early 1000 glovebox lid modified with the 3 gauges.
The early 1000 glovebox lids don't fit at the same time as the later glove box surround (they fit inside the dash hole where the glovebox liner is - the later 1000 glovebox panels fit outside of the dash)

That glovebox lid is from an early 1000 ('56 to '61). Your car looks like a later 1098cc car fitted with an earlier steering wheel.

If you take the surround off yours and get the appropriate clips, you can fit the earlier door as the actual dash surrounds (under your cover) are the same size.

No, there are bolts (or screws) underneath. If you have a look under the dash where the column bolts to it you should see the mounting screws there (at each end of the dash panel). There might be a top mount but I can't remember now, but if you take the glovebox liner (cardboard inner) out (little screws inside the glovebox around the edge) you will see any more mountings at the top.
