Anyone know what colour my 54 is (officially) called?

I thought it was battleship grey but I've realised that I just guessed that!

The old paper logbook called it grey and the MOT man called it blue
I'm expecting a phonecall from the DVLA to ask what is going on!

GULP....up to OCT 1954 there were two Greys.
Clarendon Grey and Birch Grey. Oct '54 to Oct '55
Clarendon Grey and Smoke BLUE. We all know about the
later smoke grey which everyone considers to be pale blue
so I wish you luck!

Well I would call it smoke blue based on easthetics, however that is probably completely wrong as I was never happy that a sky blue colour would be called smoke grey

Ah well - at least I know the 3 possibilities and if I check the manufacture date it narrows it down to 2!

Completely irrelevant, and NOT intended as a reprimand or to start a row :D, but it's AESTHETICS. Wasn't that useful...
I got nearly every question right on the 'Test the nation' language quiz thing too... *runs away from chorus of yawns*

4 wheels my wagon,
Shouldn't that read '4 wheels on my wagon'.... ??
oh and yes - I know it should be 3 dots not 4..

I had 5 minutes of lunchbreak left and hadn't been to the canteen so I hope you'll accept my applogy for not proof reading my posts but I didn't want to have hunger pains all afternoon.

Like I said, not a reprimand or criticism, calm down - just an observation. I'll correct my boo boo too.

Well we could playfight if you want but as I'm overly competetive it would end up painful (and I'm no big fan of pain)

Right, well if you two can keep your hands off each other for a min or so. :o

Your '54 is a cheesegrater which places it before Oct '54 so there is only Clarendon Grey and Birch Grey to choose from. Unfortunately both these schemes had maroon trim & carpet which yours has also. It's one of those two, but for some reason they seemed to run side by side. Without an example to go off it's quite difficult, but at a guess it's probably Clarendon Grey as that's slightly darker than Birch grey which I think might be the case.

I think Clarendon Grey is favourite - Birch grey is much lighter - if you have a copy of "Original Morris Minor" to hand, NRR 84 which is well featured (also in Miss Marple - Murder in the Vicarage) is Clarendon Grey.

Hope this helps

I'm not kidding - it's one of my favourite custom effect jobs. Takes hours to do it that well. Wish it worked as well on a chassis, mind...

I must be too good at it - it litteraly took less than a minute per door ;-)
