Hi,
Could anyone recommend me the best needle to run in my car. Spec is as follows:-
1275 Ital engine with +20 overbore
HIF 44 Carb
Pancake Filter
Mini speed Intake manifold
Tubular Exhasut manifold and free flow 1"1/2 bore stainless exhaust system
Pretty much standard internals for this engine.

Many thanks

Martyn

Hello Martyn,

I think this has come up before but try www.winsu.co.uk, download the programme and run it.

The standard needle that came with the carb should be ok . BER ? or BEJ ? or maybe BFZ ? They are almost identical. The MG Metro used a BDL needle - which is similar down to about half way then gets much thinner = richer = heavy fuel consumption !!

Well, basically you need a 'stage-one' needle.

If you ring up a mini specialist and tell them your spec they should be able to suggest one for you.

If you were using a HS4 carb with that setup then a AAM would be perfect, but I'm not exactly sure for a HIF44 with that spec...

BDL might be OK though as bmcecosse says.
