Very, very rusty.
I think it's about a '56/'57 - has early type folding seats, and badges, but everything else looks like a 1000.

I'm not near my books at the moment, but just regarding the SII badges on a 1000 - we had those in the UK on a few cars that were sold via the government (eg disabled adapted cars). My 57 was one of these and came with SII seats on sliders, SII badges and a few other modifications.
I'd be surprised if these special models were exported however it's not impossible to imagine.

You are about right!
APJM is the prefix for the early 948cc engine up to mid 1958 and,if
I read it rightly, it says FA5P??
F= Minor, A = 4 door, 5 = CKD R/H drive(completely knocked down)
and P = Ivory paint.

What may help you Kate is to try fixing one like that! You then see them in a very different light

Very true.

But she needs to do one though.

Anyway back to the original question! From that chassis number, I make it around mid May 1957.

They're queueing up y'know, just not minors. I've got access to a Suzuki SC100 Whizzkid, which I can have a crack at if I want (and I do want, actually, looks like it might be fun); and for myself there's the Trabant / Tatra / Moskovich fetish to assuage....

Bikes, Ha! Where's the fun in that? There's no sills, floor, sping hangers, chassis rails, etc etc to rot off... Hmmm... :o

Sounds like you are itching for a change, and one that only a rusty 2nd Minor can satisfy!

Isn't it the foot pegs that rot off bikes, Kate?

Unless it's a jap bike - then they just crack off around the welds
Especially when you are hundreds of miles away from home  (that's the first time I raided a skip for a roadside repair - strapped the footpeg back to the frame with some wire 8) )

footpegs tied on with wire looked proffesional compared to the bodge that will be done on my cylinder head! (I just spotted a BIG hole under the thermostat). This 54 has stopped being a project and is becoming a nemesis. aaagh

Isn't there SUPPOSED to be a big hole under the stat?

Sorry, not helping there! Seriously though, where exactly is the hole? Going through the bottom of the head overhang?

Oh yes, ANOTHER stud decided it wanted to strip the thread in the head today (repairable, I guess, but I'm in a hurry) - I think it had happened before my time with the engine (it went as I was putting the rocker cover securing nut gently back on), had been bodged back in and finally decided to let go.
Right, so 1098 out. 1275 in, discs off blue car and back on to black one, drums from black to blue (and Kpins, just so it rolls) - a fun w/end if only I can get a ^(*&£$ MOT in time for the rally :-) Odd that it seems to be the thread in the head, not the thread on the stud, but these things like to keep us guessing...

Well, for the Rally, belt it back into place and weld it up.

Gah, that's really cr*ppy isn't it. :(
