Handbrake Cables?

Quick question - What's the difference between saloon and van/ pickup handbrake cables?
I've found a coule that look in good condition, but I don't know how to tell saloon ones from LCV, or if they're interchangeable.

The outer cable section is much shorter on the LCV type.
Definitely not interchangeable.

Blast! You can bet the ones I found are going to be saloon ones as well
I suppose the best way to work it out then is to offer it up to the pickup - If it doesn't fit then it's not the right one, at a guess?

Why should that be ? The vehicle is the same length and uses the same rear axle , and I imagine the handbrake is in the same spot on the transmission tunnel.

Well, the end of the outer sheath bolts near the rear heelboard on the saloon, conv & trav. The LCVs don't have one, so presumably they have their mounting points elsewhere...

Like on a bracket attatched to the chassis, about 18 inches behind the cab back.

OK, I found two different lengths of cables after much searching today. The shorter ones are shorter (outers) by about 3 inches or so at a guesstimation, does that sound about right, or could they be badly made saloon ones?
Next question - The little fitting gubbins. I found a pot with one of these in, but I can't see how they come off without chopping the cable. Most of the cables I found had broken ones of these, be nice if there's a trick to replacing them
Unfortunately, my desire to get the handbrake working for a little more safety as the front is back in the air fell through, as the bag of cylinders has gone walkabouts, and I couldn't find any of those little ally bits for the back of the cab
Just about sumed up my day as I sheared the blasted stud trying to replace the (incorrect) Mini heater valve with a Minor one...

Ah right - i see why they will be different then. It's not possible to renew the fixing points without destroying the cable.

The cable guide bits to stop it chaffing on the metal panel. From what I can tell in the photo on ESMs site, they're sort of teardrop shaped. Without them the cable is rubbing straight on the currently rough and slightly rusty edge of the hole

those bits are called horseshoes.
i have some origional ones kicking about some where i think.
they just bolt on, with the alloy bit on the inside of the cab

They're small, so "bits", and alloy, so "ally". My general technique for naming any parts I find kicking around is to go by size, possibly shape, and material. You mean everyone else doesn't do the same!? ;)
Would never have thought of calling them horseshoes, that's what the nasty springy clip things on some rear slave cylinders are called, isn't it?
