Waxoyl

Post by Willie »

STEVE.. as far as I am concerned you can put Waxoyl over practically anything! (except the prop shaft and the exhaust) it has worked perfectly for me for many years. There are more specialised treatments for
areas such as the wings which resist the bombardment by stuff
thrown up by the wheels. I coat these areas with self adhesive
'flashing' which is sold in rolls and consists of a thin layer of bitumen
type material with a top layer of aluminium. It is self adhesive but
I make sure by heating it up with an electric paint stripper and then
pressing it firmly into contact using GLOVES (you don't want molten
bitumen on your hands it hurts)! I then waxoyl the whole lot, use
the car for long enough to collect a layer of road dust and then re-
spray with Waxoyl. B&Q sells a thin form of this flashing. The thickest
I have seen is 'EVO FLASH' which is rather expensive.
