Flat Battery & Dynamo

If my battery is completely (drove car from kent to manchester with slipping fan belt) flat.......how long a run would i need to do to get enough charge in it from the dynamoto allow me to start the engine?

About 5 minutes ! But the belt must have been VERY slack. Don't just tighten it and expect that to sort the problem - it will break very soon. Get a new one asap.

If it's slipping a lot you won't ever be able to recharge the battery properly. I guess you can hear it slipping which means the dynamo isn't being turned fast enough to do anything, hence why the battery was flat after a 200 mile run.

A starting handle would be the best (temporary) solution to get you to the nearest Halfords for a new fanbelt.
