Yes, if I understand correctly, rear seats come in whatever colour you like as long as they are in aupickup's garage, and any colour you like as long as they are not _all_ brown if they are in bigginger's garage, shed or shelf over the porch (I wonder if there's a 'beware of the precariously stacked seats' sign on the front gate for the postman...) or any colour or type in the back of an LCV as long as nobody sits on them.
I've got some nice leather seats out of a Mercedes[1] which are brown while the original back seat is light blue vinyl. So I could:
(a)cheaply vinylcote the back seat brown
(b) or (too) expensively recolour the new front seats blue or
(c) all of the above
or just mix and match.
[1] As Alex Issigonis was aware of the VW Beetle and originally intended a VW boxer like engine in the front of a Minor, he could hardly have failed to notice big sofalike German Oktoberfest grade Mercedes seats. And having been aware of such things such an innovative mind may well have originally planned to avoid bankrolling the osteopathy industry with the original spinepingers. Indeed this was probably the real reason the car was widened at the last minute! After all, a gas turbine exhaust hole already punched behind the battery, who knows what might have been.
On a separate note, must front seats be locked against tilting forward. ISTR my original seats had no catches and just lifted. But I believe MOTs check that seats lock

Well, there's a sign saying 'beware of the dog' - the postie can watch out for falling seats themself.

moggie sets do not lock in the rear position, and is not an mot failure over here
