Hello everyone,
Probably a bit of a lame question this but I've taken the starter switch off the bulkhead to clean it and I just want to check it doesnt matter which way round the cables to the battery and starter motor go. It one of the oval older ones which have the pull knob start cable rather than the later style which work electrically off the key. These do matter I know but I cant see any reason why the older style should. Saying that, one stud is copper coloured whilst the other is steelish.

Inside it's a simple switch, just joining two wires together. Therefore it makes absolutely no difference at all. You do need to make sure that any feed wire to other circuits is joined to the permanentlly live non-switched (battery) terminal, otherwise they'll work only when you operate the starter!!!

Sounds very much like those chemistry experiments we used to do at school. Does that mean You would have to reverse the switch if you reverse the car polarity or risk a build up of pale blue furry stuff?

Thanks for that. You know how you think you know what's happening but then a little doubt creeps in. What did we do before this message board?

I'm thinking of going into production of the blue furry stiuff. Does anyone think there's a market for it? Ebay perhaps? Getting it into little glass bottles might be a problem.
