paint problem

hi all, im trying to touch up a bit of paint on my door bottom but am having trouble matching the colour! its a 65 saloon in green. ive so far had two tins of spray from ESM, almond green which is quite a lot darker so ive tried sage green which is to light! ESM say it should be almond green but its a lot lighter, any suggestions ? cheers matt

The car may have been re-sprayed in the past in a non-original colour. You might be better off going to a paint suppliers and getting the colour matched.

The problem is that paint is often faded by sunlight, but it's such a gradual process that it goes unnoticed ~ until a touch-up is required.

Getting a touch-up pen made to suit the current colour might be the best way forward, as John suggests.

thanks,the outside may have been resprayed but the interior is original and wouldnt have faded as much as the difference in the new paint. are there any morris minor greens that come between almond and sage in shade? cheers matt

well i have a dove grey van, and the paint i bought was dark for touching up, expect fading is the problem here.

I have an '68 Almond Green 2 door, and the paint has faded quite badly on it. You can see the difference if you lift up the screen rubber and compare the paint.

I'm pretty sure yours will be an AG car, with faded paint.

Mine doesn't even polish up anymore.

Mine`s a 65 and its Almond Green and I would say the paintwork has a patina compared to recently painted ones.

My 1969 Almond green car has started to fade quite badly this year (and look a bit bloomy). It was re-sprayed (badly) by the previous owner about 5 or 6 years ago.
