BRITMO Engines Colour?

I'm currently working on two early 803 engines (late 53 and early 54) ...both of which are BRITMO cast blocks rather than BMC or MOWOG and were originally painted blue grey colour. I think that the nearest colour I've seen is PRU Blue .....There is very little left on my engine just small patches/traces..it seem almost to have washed off!. Does anyone have a view on the paint colour and a source for suitable engine enamel?

Are there many BRITMO engines still out there and when did MOWOG engines come in... Mid 54?

The Weslake patent plate looks different to the later ones too

Thanks!

I believe that early MG engines were painted the same colour blue. I seem to recollect that Wolseley engines were also the same colour.

Thanks Phil

I looked at the MG paint and its much too bright blue! Mine is more of a military blue/grey colour PRU Blue was used on spitfires 'Photographic Reconnaissance Unit Blue' and its the closest Ive seen yet.

Having looked at images of MG engines on the web the early MG engines were a lighter shade of (pru blue??) blue and the later MG engines a darker shade of blue.

I doubt that this is factory original paint on my 1275. It’s almost a turquoise. The Austin Healy sixes were blue weren’t they?
