bonet hinges

Post by mupwi »

hi all
I had a rather unfortunate event the other day when my bonet flew off on the freeway (I couldent have cliped it down properly  ) anyway the hinges snaped off and now need to replace them my question is how do i get to the bolts to take the broken half off I thaught it might be accesible through the glove box but I dont know how to get the lining out without damaging it any help on these problems would be greatly apreciated as I need the car back on the road by wednsday

on a car i think you have to take the metal lip off first, then the glove box screws.
you then push the glove box back a little and turn it so the large portion comes out first and then it will just pull out.
the drivers side you may have to take the steering wheel off.
the nuts are then accesable, put a small rag above the scuttle panel in case you drop a nut, they are fiddly, then like a lot of jobs on a moggie

You can remove the driver's side one with the steering wheel in place but you have to squash the glove box liner a little, but this does not mark or damage it (if you do it right! ).
