The above item on the end of the indicator switch - is the bulb meant to be constantly ON and flash when indicators are in use? Or remain OFF until indicators go on? On my 1958 Moggi (earlier style switch, light on the base of it) the light only goes on when the indicators are in use.
It is a bit bright and makess it difficult to drive at night as it lights up the whole cabin and reflects in the windscreen.
Any mods, suggestions, corrections, please.
At the mo', a bit of paper is covering it, making driving that bit more bearable.

No, it shouldn't be on all the time - it should only be on when it's flashing when the indicators are on (if that makes any degree of sense).

Not sure what'd cause it to be on without the indicators being on though; someone more au fait with mog wiring'll be along in a bit I 'spect

I'll check what the so called 'restoration' place did to it. Apparently that's who done the rewire a few years ago on it. And some other 'interesting' bits, which I still keep finding I better recheck it all myself.
I should be OK with diagrams - or at least hope so, being and aviation engineer -

Try another flasher unit, you should have one as a spare anyway.
When you have solved the problem then you will probably,like me,
find that the non self cancelling indicator switch results in you leaving
the flashers going for miles as the pilot lamp is difficult to see??
The answer is to fit a 12v buzzer to the 'P' contact on the flasher unit.
( light green wire).

The green light is usually too bright when driving on an unlit road at night, but there's not a lot can be done as it needs to be bright enough during the day too.
I tend to wrap my hand around it if/when it is particularly annoying, but if you get this problem too much, then the paper (or insulation tape around the outside) to block the light is about the only simple fix.
The problem is that the flasher system needs to have a certain current flow to maintain normal operation so changing bulb wattage or adding extra resistance to dim the bulb may upset the flasher unit (or you might get away with it but I've never tried it, and it would be a shame to modify it only to find you have to change back)

Maplins do them for a £1, and you can fit them behind the speedo. Only problem I have is that they're too blinking (sorry) quiet...

I`ve got me quid, i`m off to maplins, that should put my mind to rest when the wife drives the car, i`m in trouble if she reads this.

Buzzers too soft?? Mine was much too loud(inside the car laying on
the parcel shelf under the steering column), I had to glue a piece
of carpet over the outlet to quieten it down!

Was it a Maplins one? I've got 2, one for eack direction 'cos of the way I wired them, and one is quieter than the other... Can't remember quite what I did, so the wiring may have something to do with it - or it may simply be a different unit. BTW, they were a quid each a few years back now, may be more!

Naaah, it's in the black one! Not that it's any quieter. Honestly, you saloon people don't know you're born, with your carpets and your sound proofing. and your K series engines...
