Replaced the accelerator cable today with a new one from ESM. Easy enough. Now the pedal is very jerky and I can’t figure out why

Cable and carb both free and smooth, pedal free and smooth. Problem seems to be at the bulkhead grommet/ferrule/guide. Tried a tiny about of grease with slight improvement.

I’m wondering if the old cable wore some of it away and the new cable is chaffing on the sides. Considering running a very slightly wider drill through and see if that helps.

Burr on the end of the outer tube, sorted now I think….

Although it wasn't the issue in this case, the other thing that can cause a problem is the trunnion attached to the cable guide plate at the carburettor end of the cable. Sometimes there is a Heath Robinson affair if a non-standard carburettor has been fitted or the trunnion can wear so that the cable is held at an awkward angle and it will not run smoothly.
