My 1955 will be back on the road in the next few weeks. It has lots of new panels and boxing sections. I would like it waxoyled, everywhere, all the little nooks and crannies. I am unable to do it myself for health reasons, so I am looking for someone in the Reading, Henley, Didcot, Oxford area who would be able to do this. I don't want to drive further than this (health). After getting the old master cylinder out of my pickup I found that instead of Waxoyl the frame rail is full of sand. So far I’ve spooned out a pound or two of damp clumpy stuff. Not sure if from water (we’ve had record rain fall) or spilled brake fluid. I assume it’s a result of grit blasting but it looks more like beach sand.
Not sure how to proceed. I don’t think there’s enough room for a vacuum cleaner and I don’t think that would be effective on the wet stuff. Likewise water might make it worse. Ideas?

Jet wash 1st followed with air line 2nd, then water dispersant of choice such as wd40. Waxoil when dry.

Thanks Bill. Would you drill drain holes along the bottom of the frame. Not much of anywhere for the mud to go unless it could be driven out the back end. Regretting having bought this cursed truck. Im working outside at the mercy of the weather gods and they have been fickle lately.

If its that bad then yes, drill drain hole a low point, non structural point and fit rubber blanking grommet with silicone when done.
I used existing internal holes on my saloon while carpets were removed but wasn't trying to clear crud just re-waxoil . I think holes in inner sill had been drilled by PO.

I was all for the suggestion Bill made, as it seems you will need some heavy pressure to remove packed sand, where on earth did that come from ? However I’ve been looking at pictures of the van chassis that I rebuilt, there is a barrier a couple of feet from the master cylinder position, towards the rear, which I fear, would stop any water flow from exiting from the end of the chassis rail. Surely the whole rail can’t be full of sand but if so, I can’t think of a better way to rot out a chassis leg !

Bummer. I was hoping I could build a duct seal dam in the leg opening and shoot water into the open rear end of the frame pushing everything forward. I’ll have to dig up my electricians snake and poke around. Maybe that means the back end is sand free? I haven’t started on the passenger side yet. It looks dryer so dampness is probably brake fluid and the moisture it attracts. Noticed sand in the transmission mount crossmember as well. I hope they didn’t grit blast with the transmission in place.
Oddly I can see some shiny bare metal in the bottom of the leg.

Picture. Maybe you could, through an appropriate hole, insert one of these camera probes to see the extent of the sand. The sand in your picture doesn’t look like shot blasting material to me. As you previously mentioned, beach sand ?
