They seem so much bigger on You tube
I follow a couple of people on Youtube and they post driving videos...these cars seem so big with their camera's...
I was tinkering on the ole 1954 Morris today that I am attempting to revive...and I thought hey why not sit in it make car noises or something...
Holey cow they are so tiny inside...
I was literally claustrophobic when I sat in the drivers seat...
Am I missing something here???
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I guess everything is big over there. I’d be lost in a Cadillac. You know what they say——— well perhaps I shouldn’t

I could not believe that it was as small as it was when I sat in the seat...
Kinda scary actually...

But at least they fit in parking bays. It's just what you get used to. Having driven mainly Minors, I sat in an Austin 7 and couldn't believe how tiny that was. Sitting in a modern, it was a ridiculous stretch to reach over to the passenger seat (how on earth do people go courting these days?) or reach the windscreen to wipe it - even with heated screens, they still need cleaning.
The size of people has changed over time too, we are much taller (think old doorways) but at least the Minor has more headroom than many modern cars. We are also broader. Make sure that you have the driver's seat on the rear set of holes to get as much room as possible and then just enjoy the car for what it is.

Pickups are tighter yet. Mine has replacement seats of unknown origin. More comfortable but a bit larger than the originals. At 5-5” size 8 shoes I have some issues threading my foot between the seat and door post. Once inside leg room is ok but the seat is against the bulkhead and there is no leaning back. Built in headrest?
The previous right hand truck did require reaching across to open the left hand window which was doable. My sedans were certainly roomy enough. My Sprite was smaller yet comfortable. Maneurverability and parking, fuel economy are all benefits. Having survived a head on crash I would not consider them unsafe.

Re: They seem so much bigger on You tube
Thanks for the replies...here is the distance from the front windshield to the steering wheel...2 inches is it...
I feel like I am in a sardine can when I sit in it...
I might have the car sold so I am not going to worry about it...
I will sit it in and make car noises for a little while longer...just not out on the highways and byways of upstate NY...
More coffee will make it all better again...
Still love the looks of these vehicles...

The distance from wheel to windscreen on a MM/SII is something that I don't think is appreciated by those who have only ever driven S3/S5 cars.
Although I was really at additional disadvantage with the extra material on Basil's steering wheel until last week.
(see here if you missed the story...viewtopic.php?t=80179 )
I swear the wheel is now about 2/3rd of it's former self....

Re: They seem so much bigger on You tube
Funny my first thought when I saw Nellie for the first time was ‘she’s tiny!’
I had mainly seen pictures online and once stood next to a traveller… but I wasn’t aware of how dinky the saloons are.
That said when I sat in her I found her the perfect size, like she was made for me. I actually much prefer driving her over our modern car, the modern car is bigger, but feels claustrophobic became of the bulky seats and headrests.

Had an original Fiat 500 in my 20s and when I see them at shows I can't believe how small they are, they make my minor look large.
