Hi Guys
I hope you can help me. The passenger seat in Rosie has collapsed. We bought new webbing and also a diaphragm but both of these were too small. It seems like we have a larger than normal Minor seat. Our seat folds in the middle and then also tilts allowing rear passengers in and out. Do you know where we can get webbing to fix the seat please? If we buy our own webbing we still need the clips to fit it.
Or am I wrong please? Is there a measurement for seat bases? I read somewhere that I should speak the strapping but it feels like I would have to stretch it two inches!

Just measured the seat base at 18" square!

I expect you just need to stretch the rubber a bit harder. I've recently fitted new diaphragms (instead of the original straps) to my own seat bases, and new straps to the seat backs - having stripped the seats down to bare frames. 18inches would indeed be roughly the correct measurement of the base.
I did have to pull pretty hard to get the new parts fitted .

A photo would confirm but I expect you do have the original type seats with the folding one on the passenger side. No modern car seats have that simple design and construction.

The seats in my car are now MUCH more comfortable and supportive! It was a job well worth doing

Those look standard to me, as 'ManyMinors' said it's a stretching game.

If you look at the straps here they say they are very tightly fitting.

The same is true of the diaphragm.

I confess I didn't re-strap the seats myself!

Indeed. That is a bog standard Minor 1000 passenger seat of the folding type fitted to early 2 door models. Same as mine too.
I stripped both my seats down to bare frames to make the access better and then had to stretch the diaphragms and straps hard to make them fit.
Keep trying. You'll get there

Basically, if the straps or diaphragm were not under significant tension the seat would sag as soon as you sit on it. Not an easy job. Perhaps, enlist some additional muscle to help.

I have spent the whole weekend trying to fit one strap. Either something is wrong or I am physically not up to it. Is there a technique I can use, maybe a ratchet strap? Or is there somewhere I can send the seat to have the straps fitted. Or I might just upgrade to BMW mini seats!

How about griping the strap with some very long nosed pliers enabling you to use both hands to stretch the strap. Then an assistant fits the clip.

You can also put the straps in hot water to soften them before fitting, but they cool down very quickly.

I'd recommend an assistant to either 1) hold the seat wheile you do it, or 2) get them to do it for you
