Hi All
My 1955 Minor arrived today and I'm looking forward to getting out and about after a few days tinkering.
I am sure this has been asked before (I couldn't find it) but is there any way that the the gap between the pedals can be increased. I've got very wide size 11 feet,
Any ideas welcome

One easy thing you can do is have a pair of suitable shoes just for driving.

You can bend the clutch pedal towards the centre of the car but you are limited bending the brake pedal towards the outside of the car because it fits/goes down inside the chassis leg. Bending both pedals away from each other will give you some extra wiggle room.
When bending the pedals it is best to get the pedal arms red hot bend and then let them cool down naturally. You will have to enlarge the holes in the floor plates to accommodate the sideways movement. Overall a relatively easy job to do and better if you can heat and bend them off the vehicle.

I've got size 13 feet I can't drive it with boots or wide shoes but normal shoes are fine, it does take some getting used to though, I do find the dip switch virtually impossible to use.

I can't drive mine with boots either but then I shouldn't really drive the poor thing in hiking boots anyway! I change shoes before driving. I also find the floor dip switch very awkward.

You are talking about 2 different models though I think?
A 1955 Minor has different (closer together) pedals to a Minor 1000. They do take some getting used to - or smaller feet!

A little late to this as I missed it due to being away on holiday.
Basil is a '55, SII, and I don't find a problem with the left foot on the clutch, it's the proximity of the brake to the throttle that can result in simultaneous braking and revving....
I've only had him coming up 9 years he still catches me out with that when I'm not paying attention.

I try to choose smaller, less 'chunky', footwear for driving him.
I might eventually get around to removing the throttle rod and bending it over towards the wheel arch a little....

So are series II pedals closer than series V or is because of my small size 8 shoes. I've never noticed an issue .

I can confirm this is correct.
In practical terms, when I swapped to the Morris 1000 gearbox I had to alter the corresponding tunnel cover and block up the original clutch pedal hole and cut a new one further in, to allow for the earlier pedal gapping.
You get used to it.
As has been said, decent 'normal shoes' rather than boots. Mine are size 11 too.

Yes, very much so. Clutch and Brake are both inside the box section in front of the MC.
I took this photo when I was experimenting with the idea of putting a Steering Lock onto the Brake Pedal.
It clearly shows the angle of the Brake Pedal and it's proximity to the Clutch.

Interestingly - according to Ray Newell's Original Morris Minor - the last SII cars (from May 1956) had "the position of foot pedals changed; gearbox cover and master cylinder cover panel modified to provide more footroom". So only during the last four months of production, presumably carried over into the new 1000 models in Oct '56.
