Not necessarily Metro seats

I've just been to my local Trimmers for a quote for recovering a pair of modern front seats (Metro, Fiesta or whatever) in Vinyl along the lines of the ones Newton produce (plain sides and fluted centres). The ball park figurethey provided was £400 for the pair.

Has anyone else had similar seats covered and if so, how does this quote compare?

Andy,

When I visited Jonathon (JLH), he had a set of seats he'd had recovered (leather I think). I forget the exact amount (well I wasn't going to have a set recovered!), but I had the impression that it was in that region of cost. He may well help you.

Newton sell reclining seats for around £500 per pair, and they are a really good match for the trim (down to the style for the year).

ESM's vinyl covers are about £90 per seat, so i guess it's not far off (add in the cost of the labour)...

Fit Saab 9000 seats - lovely quality leather in a variety of colours, most have heating and some electronically adjust. Jonathon also does sub frames to fit minor. You should pick up a pair of seats for under £100 - recovering a metro seat etc just does not compare.

Check pics of my Saab interior to see what I mean!!

Wow Pete! How did you make it all fit, dashboard and everything, inside a moggy?

That would be telling!!!! 200 bhp as well.
Seriously, the seats do fit in a Minor, and are superb quality.

If you must have seats recovered, this guy is possibly the best in the country:

If 4-door Saab seats are fitted to a 2-door minor does the back fold down to allow acess to backseat or must the seats be from a 2-door Saab?

The rear Saab seats will need a major rebuild to squeeze into the back of the minor :( I tried this about two years ago and ended up bining them. I just had my rear seats re trimmed to echo the front Saab seat pattern. If you e-mail me I can send some pics. 8)

I'll be removing a pair of blue velour saab 900 forward tilting seats from my Minor in the next month or two. If someone wants them, send me a PM.

Hi Jonathon, the blue TC Minor you worked on last year is running as well as ever thanks

Right, I've followed everyone's advice and found myself a set of leather seats from a 3 dr Saab 900 . Now all I've got to work out is how to fit them!

Assuming step 1 to be removal of the old ones from the car (and placing them carefully in the loft for safe keeping), has any one got any hints or tips on fitting the Saab ones?
