Traveller front door handles

Just getting around to fitting door handle /locks to the traveller I can’t remember is there a rubber seal that fits under the chrome escutcheon if so we’re do you get them from thanks

No, there isn't as standard. I added a thin bead of instant gasket to reduce the chance of any rattles if the fixing clips work loose.

Are door handles exchangeable left to right? It would be much more convenient if the lock was on the driver’s side, left in the US.

On my 69 traveller there is a key lock on both front doors

The locking left two door handle was introduced in the Sixties and required a door skin change for the key hole. To switch latch assemblies would require door modifications because now both lock mechanisms are on the top. Just get into the habit of unlocking the right side, open the door and relock it. The reach over and open or unlock the left before closing the right door. It's a good idea to carry a spare key. Or simply get in a slide over as was standard procedure with cars with bench seats. If you always have a passenger (or parcels), then all is very natural as you would let them in first and they can open the left side.

Thank you but Im asking about the earlier version with the lock incorporated into the handle. My ‘59 pickup is gone and the replacement hasn’t arrived yet but my recollection is the cutouts looked the same. My previous truck had been converted to right hand drive so having the lock on that door was ideal. The right hand lock on the new left hand drive truck won’t be.

This discussion thread was about Traveller door handles.
These are completely different to Van/Pick up door handles.
The Van and Pick-up use the same doors and handles as the 4door Minor saloon.
The Minor 1000 2door saloon and Traveller (in the UK) did gain external locks around 1963 but the Vans and Pick-ups with different handles did not.
In the UK we have little or no experience of LH drive cars but I have never seen a Van or Pick-up with a key lock on the LH door. A RH locking handle will not fit the LH door in my opinion.

In regards to the four door handles, like two door handles the handle is sloped to match the door profile so switching sides flips the handle and the top of the handle will stick out. That's only the beginning. The right door then will not lock at all. For a couple of years in the Sixties there was a left locking four door handle for LHD and of course very hard to find. When used the right door only had the internal lock. Locking the handle is done by separating it from the latch - the handle no longer can move the bolt. The internal locking action moves the pawl so that the the external handle can not reach it. If you take both latch assemblies out you will see what I briefly described and get an idea of what needs to be modifies to make it all work. Although possible, it's advised not to have both internal and external means because if the internal locks are activated when the door is closed, there would be no way to re-open the doors. In a van you have the option to open the rear door, but not in a pick up for saloon. You can ask Vigil in CA what he finally did with his van. As I recall he did find a locking left handle.
