Halfords Discount

Hey all,
I’m planning a trip to Halfords in the next day or two to get a few bits. Now whenever I’ve been the Halfords staff always insist that MMOC members DO NOT get any sort of discount… but I understand this isn’t the case and that there is a discount available?
Someone did explain to me on here a while back how you go about getting it but I can’t remember what they said… could someone enlighten me again! Thank you so much!

Where the search box is in top right corner, click on the gear wheel to get more search options.
You can also use Google by using the search string
site:board.mmoc.org.uk text-you-want-to-find
For example
site:board.mmoc.org.uk Halfords discount

You can find the discount codes in the members area of the MMOC website and not this public message board.
The strange thing is that the ESM code is only in the printed copy of Minor Matters and isn't on the website. I think it might be updated quite frequently so perhaps that is why.
Hope that helps.

Wow! At my Halford's they didn't even ask for proof of my MMOC membership when I showed them the voucher........

Well that's no different to many online Click n'Collect retailers, where the site will often tell you to take the payment card with you to prove it's you.
I never get asked to produce the payment card, just give your name and order number and they hand it over....

I am going to Halfords to look at steering locks today. Having ordered one on Amazon and finding it too big I need to actually see and try the contraption on my Minor before purchase.
I looked at the various discounts for Halfords available:
MMOC Members: 7% in store via voucher
Totum: formerly NUS card but also available to members of various professional organisations, academics etc: 7% in store via voucher
Defence Discount Service /Blue Light Card: 8% via voucher in store or 10% for online purchases (limited time).

I’d be interested to know what you manage to find as I’ve ordered a few on Amazon and always have to send them back as they don’t fit… same with wheel clamps.
Currently I have a chain wrapped round the pedals and steering wheel which would make it impossible to drive off in her so does the job, but a nice fitted steering lock would look much better!

You probably haven't found this post from over 8 years ago. I'd only had Basil for around 6 months when this was posted here and I must admit Minor Theft did seem to be at the forefront of everyone's mind back then.
It's quite informative although the 'Shotgun Mine' is somewhat extreme.
At the time they were listed on ebay but not any longer...

I did find something that fits. See here for what I bought and another lock available at Halfords.
