Morris Minor Owners Club

I have got a velleman wiper delay kit that I would like to fit to my 1098 positive earth minor.
I don't want to cut into the original wiring loom, as I would like to return the car to standard if I want to.
Has anyone got one of these fitted, and if so, could you put up some photos or diagrams of how to wire it and mount it please?

Intermittent would be quite handy. Saves repeatedly turning the wipers on and off manually (which is what I end up doing in light rain)

It seems to be designed for 2-speed wipers and the original wiper motor is just 1 speed. I confess I did consider fitting a 2-speed motor myself but the wiper motor is so obvious in the engine bay that it would scream out non-original so I quickly binned the idea.

I fitted my variable speed wiper kit some time in the 1980s. This is where I fitted the switch with the unit behind. Also my wiring diagram for Positive earth.

Thanks Kenny...and Stephen, that's very useful. I have had the kit for decades but only just got it assembled. I will fit it and then decide whether to keep it or not.

There was an article in Minor Matters years ago about the kits, I have got it somewhere......

I searched velleman kit on here and there was some useful stuff from the past, but the photos had disappeared. Shame.

Kenny's picture of the steering wheel prompted my curiosity. Was the indicator stalk moved to the left of the column on later cars?

No. I did that because when I was driving a modern car I kept putting the wipers on to turn left. Swopping the switch over is a simple solution and adds conformity with modern cars.

I may just do that too

I do exactly the same in a modern car. It is the modern car that is wrong. I'm not changing my Morris!

The 'standard' of Indicators on Left, Wipers on Right is fairly recent in my experience.
I can remember only perhaps 30 years ago when having 2 cars in the family, we had 'one of each' which was a tad confusing if driving each others cars.
I think one was a Vauxhall and one a Mitsubishi, but I can't be certain after all this time.
