Distributor lucas 25D

Post by Nax »

1971 1198 minor
went to change the points and condenser and found the distributor cam rusted and pitted as pictures.
So removed the distributor to find the auto advance mechanism rusted to the main distributor shaft
could this be the reason she is getting hot and running so rough as mentioned in my previous posts.
Question is can I replace the cam or is it a case of getting a whole new distributor
its a lucas 25D but it looks like it came from an older model, it has a thread where the vacuum pipe connects
any advice would appreciated.

That cam does look a bit rough. If it was me I'd just bite the bullet and get a replacement distributer. If the cam is that bad then you can be sure the rest of the distributor is not going to be much better.
