I've just found out that my Minor lost its original registration in 1991 and is now on a Mini, and was subsequently given an A-reg replacement. I once asked on here whether anyone had previously owned my car before I knew of its ID change, so now I'm asking if anyone here once owned my car (or knew anyone who did) when it had its original plate - NMG 743. Or do you know of any photos that feature it? Long shot, I know, but worth a try.

Such a shame when this happens.
Personally I think that, unless a car is written off or scrapped, then its identity (registration) should be non transferrable and stay with the car.
If it is written off or scraped, then it should default back to the DVLA for sale, to prevent cars being deliberately wrecked for their registrations.
I say the last bit, as there are some unscrupulous people out there (polite version), who look for ways around things.
It would end all these plates being removed for a profit.
Best wishes,
Mike.
