had a meeting today 15 miles from home, for an archaeology thing,(checking a field with the electric zimmer) decided its a nice day and plenty of safe space to park,
as I got there people asked about the traveller including "how difficult is it to get fuel?" I use E5,and "do you have to double declutch?"
everyone was mid 60s to mid 70s,
have people really forgotten about classics?

Given the majority of young drivers are taking their tests in automatics I do wonder if we are the last generation to own classics?
Perhaps the young owners club have their finger on that pulse.
Interest is usually sparked when joe public is informed our cars have tax free status, low insurance premiums and possibly not even an MOT.

I think the general view of classics for those who don’t own them is that they are ‘money pits’ certainly I was put off for years assuming that I did not have the funds to own a luxury such as a classic car… not sure what pushed me to actually sit down and do sums but when I did my first thought was ‘this is actually financially possible!’
Of course being willing to work on the car myself is what makes it financially possible, but still!
