1. without the 'u'

2. dunno, there was an article in the club magazine last year about wood treatment which suggested a microprorous finish was better but that meant removing all the old varnish. I was too lazy.

3. I got mine from a DIY store and it still needs re-doing every year or two but a tin has lasted quite a while so it's not a major expense.

ps. best to remove the moss first!

Whatever you do, don't use polyurethane varnish as it will peel off in layers later. Most specialists recommend a 2-part system like Sikkens or Burgess which protects against water and UV sunlight.

i wonder if it can be transplanted, and made to grow somewhere else rather then on the wood.

i am not a very good gardener.

moss is such a great colour.

A friend of mine keeps telling me that there's a particular type of lichen/fungus (can't remember which) that's been found only to live on morris traveller woodwork so I'm not being very 'eco' in cleaning and varnishing mine!

the moss seams to like growing in the felt of the window channel rather then the wood. it takes a good few years to get a good moss garden growing.
Stig? you mean that this moss has never been seen anywhere else.
like a completly new form found only on a traveller?
so if there was no traveller there would be none of that moss?
Darwin or what?

Is it true of the moss that grows on pick ups too? If we catalogue and record them (or something), d'you think we'd get to name them after ourselves? :D

Its better spelt as Sikkens microporous woodstain, I got mine from Brewers, "Light Oak" is a little dark, get the pine or clear stain.

Yeah, the felt channels seem to make good "window boxes" with their own bit of soil too if you leave it long enough!
I think it was supposedly a unique fungus that grew on the wood and not just the usual moss, but I never entirely believed it. It's a good excuse for neglecting the woodwork to say you're helping biodiversity though!

In the boot there is! But that would be all I can think of. Unless you have a traveller...

I'll go with at the front, under the headlining, near the rear view mirror. Do I win the prize?
No Onne, but the moss loves to grow in the window rubbers anyway... :(
