Towing with an A frame

I want to take my Traveller to the garage about 5 miles away.
I am considering using an A frame.
The car, at this time, runs but is missing the rear bodywork including wings and only has a temporary fuel supply.
My tow vehicle would be my Transit camper van and I would use a trailer board with the van reg details.
The car should weigh less than 750 kg.
I think this is legal in the uk but will value confirmation.
Out of interest is anyone using an A frame for longer distance towing ?
Where are the best towing attachments?
Over the 750kg limit is there a way to connect the brakes for emergency braking?
