Before I put them on, are these 2 the correct features for a late model 2dr saloon, I have a different badge that doesnt have the spike on the top as well, just wondering want to get it right as I can. Thanks

The bonnet badge is correct but the bonnet "handle" (don't use it as a handle) is not strictly correct for a late car.

The earlier bonnet handle has an enamel M insert. The later handle has no insert and is just painted with a metallic red paint around the central M. I think the change to the non-insert, painted type handle came with the 1098cc engine or thereabouts.

The earlier handle with insert does look much nicer and I confess that my later car has that type even if it's not strictly correct.

Mine is 62 and has this one. Very faded paint on front badge

Aah Nell’s looks like this. She’s a 1960, though the red is very faded. She did come with a box of spares and there was a bonnet handle and badge, in better condition than what’s on her… so I may switch them at some stage. Wanted to make sure I had the correct one! Looks like I have

Thanks Stephen I might just try the Trafalgar blue touch up from the car and see how it looks

Actually, there is hardly any aspect of the Minor that didn't change at some point while the car was in production!

Actually, there is hardly any aspect of the Minor that didn't change at some point while the car was in production!

That is true, although I thought most of the changes went on under the bonnet!

Nothing to loose. If you look at old threads, various different blues are mentioned. I can't find the tiny little tin of paint I used ages ago! As a daft young man, years back I carefully painted the badges and the paint just fell out a few weeks later because I hadn't properly cleaned and degreased the metal.

I can't see the Oxford Blue except in a matt and it should be gloss. Perhaps discontinued......."French Blue" Number 14 looks OK.

Old threads suggest "Red Gloss" number 19. See link to colour chart posted above.

Engines, gearboxes, diffs, bodywork, interior trim, dashboard,trafficators/indicators, paint colours and many more things - too many to list here - were changed over the years. Makes it all very interesting

As well as any official change points, one has to consider the attitude of the factory. When I was speaking with a chap who used to work on the Minor assembly line, he told me that if they ran out of part "x" then, rather than stopping the line, they would use part "y" if they had stock of that. It applied particularly to trim colour and when new parts were introduced. They also wanted to use up old stock when they found it.

Then add in the changes made by certain subsequent owners, and its hard to find two cars which are exactly alike!

Unless your aim is concourse originality then the variation is one of the joys of ownership imho. The individuality is what makes it your car and who cares what anyone else thinks. They can have their opinion , it doesn’t make it right for you and your car.

But its not just about concours - many owners want to maintain their car in as original a state as is reasonably possible, at least visually. In the past, I have 'undone' various changes made by a previous owner to get cars to my satisfaction
