Exterior grade (waterproof) wood glue will be fine.

I went old school and used Cascamite when I replace the wood frame.

As a carpenter of 50 odd years experience I would highly recommend any of the new modern PU glues.
Evo-stik and Gorilla both do external ones and I guarantee they won't come apart, ever.
They also expand as they dry and will fill any gaps you may have.
Screwfix or Toolstation are my go to places.
If it does expand out of the joint then leave to dry and then pare off with a sharp chisel.

Graham.

Thanks for your replies. I have used cascamite probably fifty years ago in its day brilliant but was was wondering what the newer glues were like so thanks for your input think I will be going for gorilla glue
