I've used AI
OK so AI is frightening but I thought I'd give it a try.
I typed in 'Morris Minor rear left indictor wire colour' and it responded immediately with 'green with red tracer'. Impressed I was.
Looks like the answer to the initial question is clear cut but sometimes when asked for more it can get a bit wooly.
What I'd like to know is how the information was gathered in the first place?

Re: I've used AI
I believe it scans the internet looking for the key words of your question then posts the most common answer.
Which may or may not be correct. I'm sure somebody in the industry will give a better description.
Just for fun ask AI how AI works
If you look at the descriptions it's generating on eBay for classic cars it's laughable

Re: I've used AI
I haven’t asked AI directly but if I search Google there is an AI summary. Very often it is wildly wrong but I I ask something quite obscure it can often trace the source of information to this forum and specifically to Phil! For instance, ask it the length of a half shaft.

Re: I've used AI
The same as how an internet search has always done it, trawling for information, it just does it much faster and often combines it's finds into one summary; it's that latter aspect which can result in complete 'Rollocks' being given as the answer.
For example, if you look at the bottom of this Message Board Homepage, or on any other Message Board it will tell you who has been online in the last few minutes. Some of the visitors are identified as (Bot), these are the computers that are trawling the web, 24/7/365 to provide you with a answer when you post a question to a search engine. But now there is an AI involved too.
Try Elon Musk's AI, called grok.com .
For example, I just asked this....Does Elon Musk design good cars?
Had I asked 'make' or 'manufacture' rather than 'design' I'm sure that would have altered the answer. If you click the [Think Harder] button at the bottom, then it goes away and think another 30 seconds or so and eventually comes back with the same info, but with links provided to all the sources it used....

If you chose the A I option to look at when you google something, you are reponsible for ten times the co2 output of a 'normal' google search.

Re: I've used AI
I'm no expert, but I believe from presentations we've had at work that AI tools need to be trained on their subject. Things like chat GPT etc will be generic, non-specialist implementations, so they are likely to get relatively niche subjects like Morris Minors wrong sometimes.

I love AI… I asked if a while back what things to consider when deciding which classic car to get… it gave a me huge list which will come in very handy when making considerations about things.

Yes Dave, strange, I suggest you put it back and wait until it fails.

A I data storage uses huge amounts of power. and water to cool it, and pumps out huge amounts of heat. Just from a climate change point of view it is a disaster. Then there is the taking of jobs, and then the deciding that humans are surplus to requirements.
I am a Luddite....that is why I have got a Morris Minor.

Well it didn’t crawl out of a pond like we did.
It remains to be seen if it makes a better job !
