Exciting news for Members of the MMOC.

The new Morris Minor Owners Club Insurance scheme is now open for business. This exclusive club branded policy is administered by Peter James Insurance and offers competitive premiums plus benefits that are not available with other products.

Members had reported problems with the previous scheme that was run by another company, such as not being able to get cover due to age or parking place; and also said that premiums were too high. The new scheme addresses these concerns and provides loads of additional benefits.

There will be a feature about the new scheme in the November/December 2025 edition of the Minor Matters magazine.

For anyone insured under the old scheme, your cover will continue until your usual renewal date. When it is time to renew, we recommend that you switch to the new scheme, which we are confident will be of great benefit to members.

Will it accept those to whom the Minor is their only car?

Obviously subject to other factors, but in principle, most definitely yes - that was part of design of the scheme. What's more, if it is a daily use car, then you can accumulate a NCB.

Just used the link and got a quote that is cheaper than last year's policy, also with PJ. But, I rang them to add my son, who is 24 and a learner, and no, they won't put him on as a named driver. Even if I transferred ownership to him they won't insure ANY learner driver, they must have minimum two years' experience.
So, question is, are there any insurance companies that will insure a learner, either as an owner or named driver, on a classic?

UPDATE : thank you to the admin who contacted PJI about my gripe with not being able to insure my son on the Minor. One of the directors called me, and they have looked at his age and are happy to add him on this occasion.
Great stuff, in over 48 years of motoring and motorcycling, I have never had an insurance company take that kind of trouble before.

As my current insurance runs out on Monday, and as PJI quoted about £40 cheaper with better cover than renewal with my current insurer, I took out insurance with them today. Very pleased the club sorted this deal out for us Minor owners

Have not long renewed with Classic Line but I got a quote with the new club provider anyway and it was very competitive esp. if one takes into account the fee the former charges for agreed value and the inclusion of overseas breakdown. Very helpful young lady on the phone.

£40 saving?

As a non member of the MMOC this is good news. I can join the club and the insurance saving will cover the cost.

What is their charge for amendments to the policy? IE change of address for storage etc?

Does their agreed value scheme need re-doing every year.

Recently I needed to put the car into storage while I used our garage for something else. A certain large insurance company in East Anglia charged me over £30 to change the address, as is required for a month and what is worse, they will charge me another £30 when I move the car back home.

My policy has a while to run but when it comes to renewal...goes without saying...

Just checked, mid term amendments for club scheme charged at £20. That is cheaper than quite a few companies

My renewal was due with Adrian Flux so I asked Peter James for a quote. I had to phone them as they would not give me a quote online. I was pleased that the quote from PJ was cheaper and better in terms and conditions so I will be renewing with PJ. Well done and thank you to those at MMOC who negotiated this excellent scheme!

I gave my details to them at the NEC, and they phoned yesterday. They came up trumps - insuring both my Traveller and my A40 Farina on one policy for the price of my previous insurers renewal for one! So essentially i've had BOGOF!! Well pleased.

Just received quote over the phone, very simple and quick.
Significantly cheaper than existing renewal quote, which did not include recovery. Very pleased so now insuring with PJ and hopefully for following years if they stay this good

tried to insure my other(non minor) car today, its due this month, the minor isnt due until august,

they say they cannot give a discount until the minor is insured with them,

one thing to consider,

I have just received an excellent quote for my Morris using Peter James, a pleasant one to one conversation, well done to those involved.

Unfortunately they cannot give me quote for my modern well 2015, I was led to believe you could insure modern.

One door opens the other firmly closes.

They could not insure my modern 2013 either. From memory(maybe wrong) you need to have more than one classic with them to include a modern on multi vehicle policy.
But still very competitive for the moggy insurance so used them.
Cheaper than previous, which didn’t have breakdown cover.

Be really nice if they do add the option for a modern without owning more than one classic as I’d like to insure my modern with them. Otherwise I can’t fault this company - excellent prices and excellent customer service

If your modern car has its own club, and they (Peter James) are the ones doing the insurance scheme for that modern car club, then you can have a modern and classic car all on the one policy (my Minor is on the modern cars policy as opposed to the modern car being on the Minors policy for example) which does mean I don't get the MMOC schemes benefits, but instead the Modern ones but the choice as to which club insurance you go with for both vehicles is up to you (they ask you which scheme you want to use).

The Club insurance looks very useful and a lot cheaper than my previous insurance.
A small point: it includes a breakdown service and the phone number given turns out to be the AA.
But the person at Peter James fielding my inquiry said the policy cannot be extended to Homestart or breakdown within a mile of home.
For belt and braces, I would like to have H/S + within 1 mile.
1. Is this ever available as a stand-alone policy separately available from the AA?
2. Not sure why the Peter James people are not prepared to extend.

Good of the club to offer an alternative insurance company, however just got my renewal notice from Adrian Flux which I felt was good so I renewed.
