Morris Minor Owners Club

Hello all.
Long story shortened my dad and I have recently become joint owners of a lovely old honest series 2. Part reason choosing this car was it's originality and the fact that it's been one family owned since new, as we want to do the same, him passing it to me, me passing it to my boys etc.
We both believe cars are to be used and not just looked at, although it will be put away in the frosty/salty months. Dad's based in Warwickshire and I'm Mids/Worcs border so expect to see us and Bernadette (we've named it after the first owner) around and about next year.
Dad's first car was a minor so it's all coming back slowly

It looks very nice. I hope you all enjoy it like we have ours.

We live in Bromsgrove and have taken many pictures of our Morris up at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park over the years.

Very nice cars but I wish people would not their leave litter around.

The Burton Dasset Hills is a very nice place with fantastic views over the Edge Hill battle field.
The undulating ground was made by the extraction of iron ore which was moved from the site by a overhead Blondin type cable system to the local SMJR station. In the 1950s I lived not too far away from the hills and there were still remains of the iron ore extraction equipment about.

Yes looks good, car and scenery but the thing that stands out is the discarded can ! That image speaks volumes

That does look a very nice original Series 11.
I remember doing a hillclimb at Burton Dassett many years ago.

Very nice SII car - very similar to mine, same colour, but mine has four doors and was modified years ago (before I got it, so before the millenium) to have indicators fitted to complement the trafficators.

A perfectly forgivable modification; in fact vital, I'd say.

Yes, Basil was modified at the turn of the century, to have the DB10 Indicator system, leaving the Trafficators in place but not connected. I've modified the installation to let me have both in use; though I have a switch to disable the Trafficators when out on the open road, to save them getting a battering at higher speeds. It does damage the hinges using them at 50mph or so.

The whole area was dug over for iron ore. Not too far away is the remains of the Edge Hill Light Railway. It was a railway built for the extraction of iron ore from the top of Edge hill. The Edge Hill Light Railway was one of the Col Stephens group and even though it has been closed for over 80 years it is a railway that I had a professional interest in.
I can recommend the Edge Hill Castle Inn near Radway for the view over the Edge Hill Civil War Battle field and their hospitality.
