Front brakes

Post by Loadie »

Afternoon all
I seem to have no front brakes !!! When I noticed slowing down was a little hairy :o I figured it must be a wheel cylinder so bought a new set before even bothering to jack it up. Having done so and stripped things down i dont seem to have a drop of fluid at the front wheels yet the rears are working fine. Before i start tracking the pipes back to see where the blockage is ( i've had a look around for a squished pipe ) is there a common fault area to check first ????
cheers
nobby

That diagram will be most useful for sure. I'll ask the mrs to stand behind me. So the front and rears are two seperate circuuits ( for want of a better word!!)

No minor is a single circuit system in as much as a single chamber master cylinder feed front and rears. If you zoom in on diagram you will see single outlet at the master with banjo one for rear and one for front upto the junction with stop light switch then splits left and right.

Are you sure the rears are operating?
Have you checked fluid level?
Is the system standard drums all round and no servo?
Any sign of leaking fluid?

Unscrew the stop light switch from the junction and slowly press the brake and fluid should squirt out. If not check pipe from junction back to master cylinder for kink or damage. :tu1:
