12G202 is a standard A-series 1098cc head. Used throughout the 1098cc Minor production and also the Mini 1098 and Sprite/Midget 998cc.

Well, yes
Back last year, given 2 crisp boxes FULL of service parts books from a local garage - covering pre-war to '80s vehicles - number of Morris Minor "change points" quoted, but not mentioned anywhere else, had to go through these before continuing.

Re: Cylinder Head id'ing
Thanks Phil, isn't the 2A 628 an error for 2A 629 - missread 8 instead of 9?
When was the head number switched to the thermometer housing?
Will start collecting block casting numbers next, whether anyone knows what's what

Re: Cylinder Head id'ing
There appears to be both 2A628 and 2A629 heads.
It should be noted that BMC were prone to giving casting numbers one number up from the part number which may be the case as regards the 2A628 and 2A629 heads.

28G 69 & 28G 79
2A 628 = 803
2A 629 = 948/1098?
12A185 = early 948 (APJM?)
12A 1456 = 948
12G 202 = 1098 - square in ports
12G 206 = 1098 - large as above
12G 295 = Mini Cooper
