Steering Column Wiring

I am in the process of stripping the 1969 2 Door Saloon down for a resto , came to disconnect the column wiring from the main loom behind the Glove box Liner and discovered that the Black Wire ( earth) from the Column wiring was not connected ..... there appeared no obvious place it had come from . But to the right of where the other column wires were connected was a 3 way connector with 2 Black wires and a " spare " place for a 3rd wire to be connected . I am assuming that this is the place for the Black Earth Wire from the Column to be put into !

Would appreciate help to clarify this if some one has a Dash Out at the Moment or Knows whether this is correct for me.

P.S The Indicator Stalk / Horn all worked ok before stripping down and am thinking taking the Lining out may have disturbed it .

TIA

I think your P.S. explains it.

I can't help with first hand knowledge, since my '55 doesn't have such things to worry about.
The wiring diagrams are only schematic, so they don't show interconnection of earths, but I would say that since you're stripping it out rather than rebuilding, just make a note of it .
When refitting everything, start off with it 'out' and when you find the column switches don't work, try connecting it to the Connector with the other Black wires.

Yes that's right. The black earth wire from the steering column wiring bundle connects to a female bullet connector that can accept 4 connections. If this is inconvenient you can connect that black wire to any convenient earthing point e.g fit a ring terminal instead of a bullet and clamp it down under a nut and bolt in the floor of the glovebox surround metalwork.

Thank you , I had done notes and was going to see what did / did not work when I get to putting it back in if did not get anywhere with help ....but Stephen has kindly pointed to exactly the terminal I was referring to , so I believe that is where it should go !

Also Glad that my Brain is still thinking logically after all the stripping out I have done over the weekend ....photo's ,diagrams , labels ....but loving it !

Thank you Stephen , That is the Terminal i was referring too , see that it has 3 wires to it where mine has 2 and the one from the Steering column left dangling , believe it should go to this terminal.
