Hello All,
Finally got around to replacing the crumbling rubber blanking grommet in the bell housing - didn’t expect to find a small metal plate fitted inside the rubber recess. Not surprised to see the new one not as well moulded....

I found the modern ones quite difficult to fit but it may have been because when I did the job the weather was rather cold. There was definitely no metal stiffener in the new grommet but the old grommets were absent so I had nothing to compare to. Thanks for posting.

Dust cover - rubber BMC Pt No: 2A3076. There appears to be no separate metal plate listed in the various BMC parts lists I have. It is quite a large grommet/dust cover so would benefit from having the metal plate attached.
Below is the link to the ESM equivalent.

The ESM grommet/dust cover has the two holes as per your grommet.
Deep in the back of my mind I have a recollection that the grommet/dust cover was originally fitted with a plate but have not come across a grommet/dust cover with metal plate for some considerable time. The grommet/dust covers fitted now are just plain rubber without plate and give no problems if fitted correctly..

There's a side blanking grommet/bung and a top blanking grommet that are different. Also a boot for the clutch fork. The bigger top grommet/bung is more awkward to fit.
