Clutch and brake pedal floored/siezed

Post by Markus11 »

Hello folks, regarding my father in laws minor (20yo no start) got it running ok today. The clutch and brake pedal are to the floor and rock solid. Upon first look before wrapping up today I see they share the same shaft? Is the shaft/bushes prone to siezing up? A little confused as to how the clutch is siezed to the floor as it makes more sense to sieze in the upright position if that was the case

You can download a pdf of the workshop manual for free online, just search for AKD530 look for latest edition you can find.
You will find some good info.

The brake pedal is prone to seizing on the clutch pedal shaft and the clutch pedal is prone to seizing in the bushes which are fitted to the chassis rail.
The shaft is 5/8" dia if you have need to ream the bushes.
You can easily fit a angled grease nipple to the brake pedal but it is a bit more difficult to fit greasing facilities to the clutch pedal shaft bearings.

The clutch pedal shaft wears before the bushes which may mean difficulties removing the spacer and brake pedal.
I would advise to make life a lot easier you purchase a replacement clutch pedal shaft and clutch/brake pedal bushes from ESM.

As above, plus check the pedal return springs are present and correct once the shaft/bushes are all freed up.....
