Hi all,can someone tell me an easy way to fit the rubber into the rear of a moggie. I needed to replace my rubber and it was an absolute disaster. Firstly the rubber wouldn't stay on the glass and kept slipping off the glass, then tried the rubber on the body and tried pulling the glass in that way,no joy. I tried various lubricants to no avail.Any tips as I've just about pulled what was left of my hair out.ive watched numerous ways on you tube and apparently the rear had to be installed from inside out. Any help would be great thanks folks.

Yes, you do have to fit the rear windscreen from the inside out. Clean the glass and fit the rubber to the glass. Then clean up the window surround on the car body, removing any rust, old sealer and sharp or jagged spot welds which might tear the new rubber. Prime and paint and repairs.
Next, put a string or cable into the groove around the rubber. Now place the screen inside the surround, get one end into position and start to pull the string so that the lip of the rubber comes through to the outside and the screen begins to fit into position. You really need 2 people to do this job.
Don't be afraid the give the glass a good thump now and again. Toughened glass is quite robust. It isn't an easy job and the fit is quite tight. It is easy to trap the rubber and tear it on the metal surround - hence cleaning that up first and using a lubricant of some sort.
Eventually, with luck, it'll all fit together bit by bit as you pull the cord and push the screen into position. Good luck :)

Oh dear....
Why do people not have the workshop manual.?
IMHO, over half the time on youtube, the people doing work on cars are winging it because they haven't read the book....
