Series II Roof Lining....

So one of the little things that needed sorting on my car was the loose roof lining under the rear window. One of those little jobs I knew would need looking at sometime.
As I've recently decided to look at installing the rear seat squab correctly (it's just got screws put into it from the boot... ) I investigated the sagging liner.
It was literally just poked into place up under the window rubber and a bit of glue on the back at the ends.
Plus there was the matter of the shelf being bare cardboard.
(Sun was so bright outside, I had to cover the rear window to see what I was doing)

So after a bit of research into how it was supposed to be fitted, I ordered some A2 Sheets of 1mm card, intending to laminate myself a backing board of appropriate strength.
As it happened, the supplier packaged the card using a A2 Sheet of 3mm card.
I used that instead, two long lengths with a short bit joining them under the middle of the window.
I made a paper template from some leftover wallpaper and when I was certain I had it right, comparing to SII imaged from the interweb, I made up the board and covered it with the previously installed liner fabric.
An ebay purchase of some Maroon vynil for the shelf, and all is sorted.
Just the squab fitting still to finally sort out.

One of the 'delightful' past owners made an interesting bodge of how to fit the speakers under the metal shelf.
But I'll live with that.
It's perhaps preferable to any other bright idea they might have had.... :-?
