Simon....
I've noticed that people are Quoting but their comment is appearing inside the Quote area, instead of after it.
Compare the image below to the comment that follows:

Essential!!
[ Good Call they are invaluable sometimes , especially when the unions are tight and an open ender turns the corners over and for the difficult to get to areas ...do you know what size the moggy requires ? ]
Usually 7/16" AF for brake line union nuts and bleed nipples. A brake spanner is really an essential tool because the union nuts are brass and easily damaged.
Also worth mentioning that for a Morris Minor you need AF Imperial spanners/sockets, Whitworth spanners/sockets and BA spanners/sockets.
If you don't know what spanner you need try all of them! Very occasionally you may come across a metric fastener but this will be a replacement. It depends what has been done to the car over the years.

THIS LINE IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOLLOWING THE QUOTE SHADING, NOT BEING INCLUDED IN IT.....

There is a 4th [/quote] missing before the line starting "THIS LINE IS SUPPOSED....." which would close off svenedin's reply.
I found the original thread that your example comes from -
viewtopic.php?t=78885 and have played with that thread and others with nested quotes.
The missing last [/quote] seems to arise if you quote someone but don't add anything. Thereafter any subsequent quotes of the same posts are all missing one [/quote] so the added text is in the wrong place.
I'll try it by quoting this post in my next post.

So if I type after the quote what happens
It appears after the shaded quote

I thought it was user error by CMG.
I can see Berni's post above does show the new text in the shaded area, that could be because the quote is added to a new post.
In CMG's case the new text is between square brackets possibly added by him?

At first, I too thought it was mistakes by individuals posting, until I saw it a few times; so I played around on my PC using the [Preview] function, hence why I posted the screenshot.
The preview Screenshot showed it outside the Quote/Unquote coding, yet when actually posting it seemed to ignore the 'stop' Code.
But it all seemed to resolve overnight.

No changes made. I wonder whether it's due to local cache?

It was this particular Topic, I don't know if it affected others.
It seemed to go wrong the first time here:
viewtopic.php?p=708799#p708799
At first I thought an individual making an error until I played around with it and proved it was doing it on the [Preview] selection...
But all fine now...

It's doing it again over here:
viewtopic.php?p=708984#p708984
I noticed that the Comment from Wes wasn't posted outside the Quote shading, so I tried a 'Quote with Response' and on preview my comment also shows inside the Quote....
See screenshot below.
I didn't actually post it, as that would be pointless, I only did it for investigative purposes.

.
I then added an extra Cancel Quote code and ... all was normal...

.
it's not consistent, as other posts from the same Subject are Quoting fine...

I spotted the problem with the Wes and Les topic as well. Just what we love from computers - inconsistency.

Getting to be annoying... Having to decipher where a Quote ends and response starts....

There are some articles that suggest this problem is caused by the Safari browser on IOS posting the BB code incorrectly. It makes the initial nested quote incorrectly, and then anyone following that includes the error, regardless of what browser they are using. This would explain why it seems a little random - we do not display which browser has been used to make a post. If anyone can test this theory and report results, that would be helpful.

I'm using Firefox Mozilla; I don't think it's happened on anything I originated...

Ditto. I cannot make it go wrong with FF, Edge or Chrome, but do not have an IOS device to try.

If it's of any relevance I use Safari on MacOS and iOS exclusively.

Ahh... So you're using IOS/MacOS with Safari, and the Quote system is working...
I wonder if it requires 2 successive Safari/Apple users to cause it...
What if you Quote yourself ...
